ABOUT THE FOUNDER

&

VARIOUS CONSIDERATIONS

THE FOUNDER OF THE KIMUGAN

The Kimugan has emerged love of its founder by the Martial Arts; its creator: Doshu Prof. Gabriel Gagliardini has been dedicated to martial training, regularly and systematically, since the 80s (1980), studying in depth and developing all aspects of his Art… balancing the technical content and philosophical, but not as fanciful but within a range of parameters including the socio-cultural development of western civilization from the first decade of the third millennium context is prioritized.

The Kimugan exists because a huge array of various interrelated combat techniques were manifesting in the mind of its founder during approximately three decades of uninterrupted training.

Prof. Gabriel Gagliardini developed the original idea of the Kimugan so that it can fulfill a deep social function, since it is not only a matter of giving people the possibility to defend themselves physically but also to offer people a new element that helps to improve Coexistence and increase respect for the environment.

This Art has been founded principally to allow decent people their inner development, having greater and better elements that allow to remove from their lives all that is bad and at the same time foster all that is beneficial for the individual, his environment and all in general.

Over the years, the creator of the Kimugan understood that it was a discipline that exceeded his expectations, since this Martial School was initially thought as a Personal Defense System and, over the years, the Kimugan ended up being the only Martial Art that combines the following characteristics: its origin is totally genuine, the techniques are simple, it is effective without being aggressive, it houses a very high philosophical support, its idiosyncrasy is absolutely American and it has been developed for the urban environment, this implies that the following have been taken into account: (1) updating the use of weapons, (2) mental strengthening to avoid manipulation, (3) the study of the essential aspects of neuro-linguistics to anticipate the wiles of the attacker, 4) work on the levels of aggressiveness caused by current drug use, 5) the use of elements of the different schools of psychology in order to improve the perception of reality, (6) consideration of existing legal regulations, (7) esoteric knowledge about the laws of the universe, (8) the proper way to defend against psychopathic aggressors, 9) personal development oriented to the spiritual evolution of the student, to help him or her overcome his fears and 10) the education of students to be healthy, free from the “technological jail" of our times (empty matrix alienating minds), without rejecting the new digital tools, which must be used intelligently, and not as automatons, both for our benefit and that of other beings.

Without prejudice to any other similar activity, it is correct to affirm that the Kimugan is the only Martial Art that fulfills all these requirements, and therefore is constituted as a: Supreme Art (superior in its class, last and more important).

What is the meaning of the word: "Doshu"?

The term most commonly used to designate the instructor of a martial art is: "Sensei" (comes from Japan), and literally means "one who is born before" (sen: before, sei: birth, life); from a more philosophical aspect is defined as: "who has traveled the road." When the instructor is very experienced or advanced range he or she is often called: "Shidoshi" or "Shihan".

The founder of a Martial Arts School is called the "Doshu" which means: "Leader of the way". A successor descendants of the founder, when they move to occupy the leading position effectively they are called the same way. Some times an heir who may not have family relationship with the founder and can be assigned the title is designated: "Soke" (Sokke), and this reference may be of a purely administrative character, so it does not have to be indicative technical and martial receptor level this title, since their responsibility is the permanence and correct transmission of the teachings in the Study Plan, and is the only person who can authorize the expedition of the license maximum instruction.

The beginnings of the School of Kimugan

Gabriel Gagliardini was generating and expressing new ideas in relation to the Martial Arts since 1985, through a process that gradually developed during more than three decades.

Just starting in 1990, he designed a brief compendium of self-defense techniques and strengthening exercises that emerged from systematic training and their own experience in real-life situations. Then, between 1990 and 2003 the structure of a rudimentary defense system, which incorporated some very basic philosophical aspects was established.

For about a decade he made improvements that deepened the technical area and philosophical concepts.

In 2012 the Doshu left the company for about half a year, and it was only in 2013 when he officially founded the Kimugan, the first and only martial art hundred percent American.

We say that the Kimugan has far exceeded the initial expectations of its founder because not only he could form a rigorous and consistent study, but also all the necessary requirements are met to achieve the status of martial art with Registration and International recognition.

Currently the Kimugan has been fully accepted by many people that every day increase their number, and this activity continues to nourish daily from Kimugan itself, which is sustained by the constant training of its founder together with all the people who make the school. Since 2014 Doshu Professor Gabriel Gagliardini has been dedicated exclusively to the advancement of Kimugan in all its aspects, devoting many hours a day to the philosophical study and the pursuit of technical excellence.

VARIOUS CONSIDERATIONS

Basic Study Plan

The Kimugan has a systematic model that has been developed with the intention of teaching the correct instructions to the students. The Curriculum design of Kimugan enables standardization  of the learning process of theoretical and practical contents given by the various Study Centers.

The Study Plan provides guidelines: instructors are responsible for training students on the items in the curriculum, while students will be required to learn such content if they want to graduate to each belt.

Training of future instructors is included in the development of the Study Plan, it is intended that the student acquires responsibility, because they can become a professional instructor as well.

The notion of  Study Plan transcends the Educational Program, because the Program involves only a list of the contents that should be taught; The Study Plan is also responsible for determining how the instruction will explain why the content has been selected, and how the Kimugan methodological and axiological factor (values) play a decisive role.

As for the technical content and its relationship with gradations, with graduations, here is a brief outlook on the first belts/degrees (kyu), which are most common:

- White: introduction to Kimugan.

- Yellow: (7th Kyu),

The Three Levels

The Kimugan can be practiced in three distinct levels:

1. Physical or material, memorizing and repeating.

2. In ways that are unified, fluid, with technical blocks (or Kimugan tai jitsu: Kimugan's body management Art).

3. By the conscious application of ki on the execution of the technique in a unified way.

At first the student uses simple techniques which are used in basic fitness. With systematic training varies the application and mode of execution of these techniques.

Gradually the complexity of these increases, with the passing of time is to understand the movement block, through: body art,  breathing management, as well as physical and biodynamic use. With enough time, training and development in the art, the student may be able to direct the ki through the use of mental image.

Basic training

Training usually consists of one hour classes, three to four times a week. The development in each class may vary as well as the content, because there is no strict routine that is followed. The activities are based on the issues of the day, like what has already be mentioned. A warm-up is always done by some sort of aerobic activity and stretching and strengthening exercises. There may also be breathing exercises and energetic harmonization. Normally displacement and evasion movements are reviewed, to continue escape tactics against different assets and grips, various defenses, attacks, counter-attacks, detentions and takedowns. There may also be, according to the level of the students, defense against weapons and techniques to use when is more than one attacker. To end the class you may do stretching and relaxation exercises.

There are only two things that you can not miss in a basic class of Kimugan: 1) the warm-up and 2) the techniques to neutralize an aggressor under different circumstances.

Dress

The basic training uniform consist of a jacket and pants that are  black or white, and with the belt that corresponds to the student and his/her class. Beginners may train with gym clothes during their first month of training. The use of shorts or tight fitting clothing is not allowed in any training. Depending on where the class is done, you may train barefoot, with socks or with some convenient and flexible footwear of any kind that it is clean. Although is recommended to bring some footwear that is clean and specific for your training (because footwear that is used on the street is not allowed to enter onto the training floor).

The training uniform that used in Kimugan is also used in most Japanese martial arts as well. It is called "keikogi" ("keiko" means: practice, in sense of training; "gi" means: dress or clothes). It is often called: "dogi" ("do" means: way,  applied to the distance traveled by the student during his/her years of training).

The uniform consists of three elements: a buttonless jacket (uwagi), pants (zubon) and a belt (obi).

As for the color of the training uniform, you may use the white and black uniforms without consulting with the instructor that in charge. If you wish to use another color than white and black you must ask for permission through the regional Chief or someone else of a higher class through your local instructor.

All instructors from 5rd dan (fifth degree black belt), may wear the color of uniform they desire.

At outdoor trainings, the students may assist with a training uniform or in gym clothes. Unless the instructor in charge insists they can choose for one of these options and/or by request from their students for a valid reason.

Practical Application

The regular training Kimugan is aimed at people of integrity. It's main objective is to form an open and awake mind, make a correct evaluation of different events, and end with the appropriate attitude. Before a situation takes place these four elements should be taken into account and evaluate:

   - Situation

(Relevant features)

   - Circumstance

(Physical and psychological context)

   - Aggressor

(Actual damage done)

   - Strategy

(Tactical choice)

Below is a list of the main benefits of the Kimugan those who practice it regularly and systematically presented.

   -It foments self-control.

   -It eliminates aggression.

   -It reduces stress and tensions.

-It provides a sense of wellbeing.

   -It favors muscle development.

   -It increases breathing capacity.

   -It improves reflexes and coordination.

-It eliminates excess fat and prevents against obesity.

-It teaches the importance of perseverance and discipline.

-It incorporates the value of responsibility and respect the word.

-It strengthens And improves self-esteem through increased personal security.

A reflection, a question and several answers...

It is always advisable to anticipate events, for example, it is much better to maintain a healthy weight than to lead a sedentary life, increase 100 pounds and then later have to bring them down with exercise and diet, because this is much more complicated, in addition to a generally generated deterioration along the entire process. However, as the Kimugan refers not just about physical, psychological and spiritual well-being, but effective and non-invasive techniques are taught to neutralize an attacker, and thus save one's life and the lives of others... therefore, we should ask ourselves this question:

Why should I start practicing Kimugan right now?

Because Kimugan stands for: comprehensive training.

Because this is serious business, in which no one is harmed.

Because "then" it is often too late, and "tomorrow" is "the day that never comes".

Because it is a non-traditional Martial Art, and has been developed for today's urban environment.

Because there is no other activity that combines non-aggressive techniques with full efficiency.

Because it is not based on the exchange of blows, or the use of muscle strength.

Because investing in personal safety is a real need.

Because no sports competitions of any kind are generated, no exceptions.

Because it contains a complete, specific and purely practical self-defense system.

Because it always works with the intention of neutralizing the aggressor in an extreme situation.

Because training is nice and the techniques used are safe, simple and effective.

Because the training is very gradual, and is based on the incorporation of viable techniques.

Because being an aerobic activity, your practice is recommended to improve the physical and mental state.

Because it can integrates people of all ages, with or without experience in martial arts.

Because it promotes sociability, and improved linkages with respect and responsibility.

Because our workouts are intense, but no particular performance is required.

Because no pirouettes or any accessible stunts by only a few are performed.

Because our students receive the cordial and personalized treatment they deserve.

Because seriousness the security and responsibility have always been our greatest guarantee.

Because it allows students feel much more relaxed, confident and positive; which generates wellbeing.

Because the physical work combined with breathing exercises and the philosophical basis improves self-esteem.

Because sharpens reflexes, it reduces stress, combats obesity and help put aside addictions.

Because we must be prepared also for the protection of other beings.

Because the KIMUGAN improves us...

...and makes the world a better place!!
