COURTESY RULES

&

FREQUENT QUESTIONS

THE COURTESY RULES

Both students and instructors of Kimugan should observe, respect and apply the following rules:

1. You must attend classes with a good heart, leaving aside the problems of everyday life and concentrating on the topics of training. However, during the first thirty minutes of gym it is allowed to talk about different topics, and thus make more of a enjoyable aerobic training.

2. Hygiene should be maintained because it is required to wash workout clothes regularly. If before coming to a class of Kimugan, another sport is practiced, you need to bathe and put on clean clothing to enter the dojo. It is also advised to wear another pair of shoes, to keep the training place clean. You should not spray perfumes or deodorants in the classroom, keeping up on your hygiene and wearing clean clothes will be enough. Frequent use of bleach diluted in water (lye 30%) is recommended for the washing of training clothes (uniform, t-shirt and underwear) as well as personal hygiene before each class.

3. You must act in good faith, and preferably discuss issues related to technical and conceptual aspects rather than personal matters. It is allowed to refer to issues of general interest if they are part of some casual conversation, but always have respect and avoid interference. Do not ask any questions or comment on private matters or ask inadequate, biased or malicious questions.

4. You must look after the welfare of others, therefore all techniques have to be applied carefully, without hurting anyone and according to the ability of each person. Obviously, all these precautions should be intensified when weapon techniques are performed.

5. You must attend class setting outside your mood, personal problems, or the weather, unless an illness occurs. Regular and systematic training is necessary, therefore if a person misses school for several weeks it not only stops learning, but in reality it shows a large backward movement, and may take several months to recover all that has missed.

6. Wear suitable clothing for training, the basic set is recommended: pants, jacket and belt. When using other types of clothing (for whatever reason) gym loose clothing is used. Coming to class with tight or short pants is not allowed. During the first month of training, the jacket may be replaced by a sweat shirt or sweater that is resistant to the grips.

7. You should be very punctual. Punctuality means not arriving late or even before the time of training. This should be considered a priority, because arriving late/early is a lack of consideration for others, and when this is repeated becomes a serious lack of respect. It is advisable to always arrive five minutes before and not ring the door bell until the exact time.

IMPORTANT:

Compliance with the Code of Honor or Regulation of the Kimugan School is mandatory for all its members. Failure to comply with established norms or misconduct will reject all kinds of excuses, as well as any argument that implies justification due to ignorance.

The sanctions may be determined and imposed by the instructor in charge of the class or by any other instructor of higher hierarchy. In the event that the sanction is considered unfair or inappropriate the affected person may resort to a higher authority to review the measure and decide accordingly. It should be clarified that, the latter, can not be taken as a lack of respect on the part of the Instructor who applied the penalty in the first instance.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS

This is a compilation of the main questions that people often make when one does not know much about the School of Kimugan. All the questions in this list have been evaluated and answered directly by the founder of Kimugan: Doshu Professor Gabriel Gagliardini.

1. -Could you define the Kimugan in one sentence?

-The Kimugan can be defined as: "Non aggressive Supreme Martial Art, based on evasion and the conscious use of the Vital Energy (KI)".

2
. -The Kimugan... is ancient or is an "invention"?

-It is both. The origin of all techniques (in essence) is ancient, as are some strategic and philosophical concepts. On the other hand: technical development, displacement, forms of disarmament, body work, study plan, etcetera... are an "invention", or rather, a creation of the founder of this discipline.

3
. -What other martial art looks like the Kimugan?

-The Kimugan does not look like any other martial art. To look for similarities with other disciplines is irrelevant, it would be like to postulate that baseball and basketball are similar because in both a ball is used. It is possible that some martial arts have many similarities, but this is not the case.

4
. -What would be the philosophy of Kimugan?

-The Kimugan philosophy encompasses many areas, but in a general aspect one could say that it is built on the neutralization of all the negative. All the theoretical content is linked to the practical aspect by thinking and management of ki (the vital energy).
To mention an essential specific aspect of Kimugan we can refer to the generation of situations by thoughts and concrete actions, and at the same time to proportionality in the response to the aggressor without increasing or reducing the karmic reaction that generated their actions... and the correct verbalization of concepts, since the word is an expression of thought, which operates through feelings.

5
. -It's known that management ki takes many years of training, what  philosophical aspect of practical application  could you teach to a student who is just learning the basic techniques?

-It's very simple, the first teaching is an essential concept, which boils down to the following: "apply the strongest of one self on the weakest of the aggressor."

6
. -And... on what is the general philosophy of Kimugan is based?

-It is based in the esoteric knowledge of the Forces of the Universe.

7
. -In the displays of Kimugan: do you break tables, bricks or bend steel bars?

-No, because all that is "an unpleasant trade show aimed to capture the naive"... it is not real. If it were true, instead of breaking thin pine boards superimposed with the beta neatly located in the same direction, they could break yellow pale straps or a piece of quebracho wood. With bricks there are different tricks, is not that the brick is fake or was previously cracked, but other details: the position thereof and fundamentally their composition and the type of cooking that they under went to not go too deep in this subject I will simply give you an easy detail to note: the light orange bricks are very easy to break, if one scrapes one of these bricks against a rough concrete floor it will wear out with little or no effort, and one can write or draw with these as it they were chalk; however, with dark brown brick red (with burnt areas) it is virtually impossible to do, because they are very hard, and scrape against concrete barely wears it down. That said, beware! because it will not lack some "unscrupulous illusionist" to dye those tender and brittle light orange bricks to the color of the dark brown brick red. As you can imagine, there are many other "details" (tricks) in which could deepen enough. Regarding steel bars, really just depends on the composition of the metal, for example, is very easy to break a steel file, because this steel has a high degree of carbon in their chemical composition, which makes the whole file extremely hard but brittle to an intense impact, therefore, I challenge to any "twentieth Dan" or to a warrior monk to bend with his head or his hands, one of the thin sheets of steel arch damping of a truck.

8
. -Is the Kimugan a Martial Art or a specific self defense system?

-The Kimugan is a Martial Art emerged from a Personal Self-defense System, and it is also a sport, an artistic and cultural activity... because of its philosophical contribution. Moreover fulfills a recreational and social function.

9
. -Why are there no tournaments or competitions held?

-Because the Kimugan is not a violent or competitive activity. The competitions are doubly harmful: who loses is embittered and the ego is swelling of the victor. To think that winning a tournament means beating others, instead of advancing and overcoming personal obstacles, is more harmful than any opponent. In addition, it should be adjusted to a regulation, and this would alienate the student of the conditions of a real situation. To conclude: compete with others, is always harmful in every sense, because attention is placed on the outside... in something vain and superficial.

10
. -Do you use force against the offender?

-No, the own energy is used on the aggressor to neutralize.

11
. -What is sought in the Kimugan: subtlety or shock?

-The Efficiency without confronting, everything else depends on the situation. It is not correct to raise the technical concepts in binary form, usually there are often multiple options. Generally speaking you should avoid, not be... and then be a rock that immobilizes.

12
. -Why should I choose to practice Kimugan?

-Because it is a complete discipline, in which a comprehensive training is provided: physical, mental and spiritual. I would ask why not? Would you... or would not you want to make a simple, healthy and safe activity that fills you with vigor and provide great comfort? Understand that, in an extreme situation, having practiced Kimugan you can save your life. For all these reasons it is clear as to why one should practice Kimugan... I ask the opposite: are there some valid reason for not practicing a genuine Martial Art as is the Kimugan?

13
. -Why weapons are used in the Kimugan?

-Because the Kimugan is not a school of only “empty hand” (kara-te). The students should familiarize themselves with weapons to avoid being paralyzed by an attack of the real life. You are taught to use the ki itself in relation to other beings and the environment to effectively neutralize and disarm the aggressor, and the weapon obtained can be used to return restore balance in a particular limit situation. Weapons are extremely useful in various aspects, as they serve to develop coordination, strengthen joints and improve posture. It is essential to become familiar with all kinds of weapons so that fear does not arise in the presence of them.

14
. -The use of weapons begets violence?

-No. Violence is generated by the aggressor, and is the same attacker who, through his actions, becomes the sole recipient of all that projected. This applies at all levels: physical, mental and spiritual. Evil must be fought. Every living being can exercise the right to self-defense, always.

15
. -What weapons are used in schools Kimugan?

-All. Usually we use: short and long stick, knife, and replicas of firearms; but the official weapons that we used are seven:

1) Stick

2) Handstick

3) Tonfa

4) Nunchaku

5) Chain

6) Knife

7) Sword

Training throwing knives, sharp irons, darts, stars improving coordination and aim... this type of activity promotes the union of body and mind, through the conscious use of breathing.

16
. -The Kimugan is effective to overcome fears?

-Yes, because, with the passing of the years, those who practice this discipline must learn that people only must fear God when proceeding incorrectly, and anything or anyone else. The rest is all illusory.

17
. -May I be in Kimugan and another school simultaneously?

-Sure, of course; It is a decision that rests with the student.

18
. -How is a normal class of Kimugan?

-First: tere is no rigid structure. Overall: breathing exercises and energetic harmonization, warm up by aerobic activity are performed. Then displacement techniques, hit and falls. Weapons handling, tactical disarmament, defense against attack and development of various theoretical questions.

19. -One can become violent to learn to fight?

-Here it is not taught to fight, not to beat others to win a trophy, fame or money. In our school students learn different ways of defense and proper neutralization of the aggressor in different degrees, adapting to the type of situation.

20
. -At what age can one start practicing Kimugan?

-From 7 years old, with some exceptions.

21
. -Is there an age limit to sign up?

-No, no because there is no demand for a certain performance, it is normal that the elderly integrate well.

22
. -How long does it takes to became a black belt?

-About approximately between 5 and 7 years, it does not dependent on the time, but on the performance of the student. There is a quote from the book "Tao Te Ching", written by Lao-Tzu, that says: "The knowledge that the man of the universal principle, depends on the state of his spirit The usually free spirit of passion knows his mysterious essence The usually passionate spirit only you will know its effects. "

23. - In how much time is learned to ki management?

-It will depend on each person and the training received ... it took me more than two decades to access basic knowledge and its practical application; It was at the beginning of the fourth decade of training when I was able to apply “ki techniques” in any type of situation. It may take less time for other people, since my teachings could accelerate that process. The main thing to get started in the art of ki management is: have perseverance and humility, but this is not enough ... He or she can never consciously ki management being a person who is anxious, envious, malicious or competitive.

24. - The karma, so mentioned in the philosophy of Kimugan, is related to reincarnation?

-Yes, of course. It is necessary to clarify that karma is difficult to define because it has various aspects, which will not deepen in this moment, I will only say that about this topic: it is caused by the law of “Cause and Effect” (which, in turn, is activated by thoughts, feelings and actions), and it could totally condition the “destiny” of a person who ignores the way in which the Universal Laws work. Reincarnation can be defined as: "the transmigration of souls"... simply observing reality we can understand that physical bodies are: "biological garments that allow us to experiment in time and space. All creation is Mind!!!

25. -What are the most frequently asked questions about the Kimugan?

-Generally, in the first place: "How much do the classes cost?", and… in the second place: "What are the class schedules?"... and then, they usually ask me something about the content of Kimugan (with some exceptions). This clearly demonstrates the terrible level of superficiality and foolishness that is present in most people, which -to a large extent- have succumbed to the bombardment of information, social stupidity and addiction to the cell phone... these elements may generate: anxiety, stress, emotional instability, multiple failures and great spiritual discomfort (which usually ends in depression).
It would be great if people, instead of worrying so much about money and schedules, would relax for a moment and reflect on this old phrase: "Cheap may be expensive".
An intelligent question would be this:

How will the Kimugan improve my life and my world?
